Hazer Demonstration Project – Operations and Maintenance

Project Overview:

The Hazer Demonstration Project is the first large-scale implementation of the Hazer Process, a pioneering low-emission technology for producing hydrogen and high-quality graphite. Located at the Woodman Point Water Recovery Facility, this facility uses biogas as a feedstock to produce up to 100 tonnes per annum of 99.99% pure hydrogen and 380 tonnes per annum of graphite. Altrad operates and maintains the facility, ensuring process efficiency and operational reliability while supporting Hazer Group’s mission to provide sustainable industrial solutions.

Scope:

  • Full operation and maintenance of the Hazer Demonstration Project.
  • Process monitoring and optimisation of a pressurised fluidised bed reactor system.
  • Maintenance of electrical heating systems and ancillary infrastructure.
  • Support for hydrogen and graphite production, including quality assurance and reporting.

Technical Details:

  • Feedstock: Biogas, 2 million Nm³/year
  • Hydrogen Production: 100 tonnes per annum (99.99% purity)
  • Graphite Production: 380 tonnes per annum (90–95% TGC)
  • Reactor Design: Pressurised Fluidised Bed

Manning:

  • Dedicated plant operations team specialising in hydrogen and graphite production technologies.

Outcomes:

  • Successfully supported the production of high-purity hydrogen and graphite with minimal environmental impact.
  • Reinforced Altrad reputation for excellence in operating advanced low-emission technologies.
  • Enabled Hazer Group to showcase the viability of the Hazer Process as a scalable, cost-effective solution for the global hydrogen market.
