Project Overview:
The East Rockingham Waste to Energy Project (ERWtE) represents a significant milestone in renewable energy and waste management, designed to process 300,000 tonnes of residual waste annually. This state-of-the-art facility aims to divert 96% of waste from landfill, delivering a cost-effective treatment solution while contributing to dispatchable renewable energy supply. Altrad (formerly AusGroup) was engaged to fabricate, pre-assemble, and install critical components of the boiler hall, baghouse, and hoppers, leveraging its expertise in modular construction and onsite assembly.
Scope:
Altrad’s responsibilities for this project included:
- Receiving and verifying materials using advanced tracking systems (Track Base).
- Specialist fabrication and welding of structural steel components.
- Pre-assembly of eight modular structures (cubes) for the bag and boiler house.
- Installation of specialised fabric filters and insulation on hoppers.
- Pre-assembling transportable modules such as cubes, towers, and panels.
- Comprehensive planning for the transportation envelope, ensuring safe delivery from the Kwinana fabrication facility to the site. Including the management of burrying powerlines.
- Execution of all onsite installation, including scaffolding and rope access services.
