Project Overview:
The Shoemaker-Levy Project, operated by First Quantum Minerals Ltd., is an expansion into a second-stage nickel laterite deposit at the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operations (RNO). This development is designed to extend the mine’s life by approximately 30 years. Altrad (formerly AusGroup) was engaged as the sole supplier for fabrication and onsite construction services, delivering critical infrastructure to support the project’s operational expansion.
Scope:
Altrad’s scope of work included:
- Fabrication of select components for the new construction project.
- Onsite construction services, including the provision of all required plant, equipment, resources, and management.
- Construction of new crushing facilities to support increased production capacity.
- Installation of a 9-kilometer overland conveyor system.
- Integration of the new infrastructure with existing operating conveyor systems through tie-ins.
Manning:
- Expertise in fabrication, structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) construction
- Peak workforce deployment of 80 personnel
