Project Overview:
The KLE LNG Train 1 Fractionation Unit Upgrade was a key component of the Karratha Life Extension (KLE) program. This project aimed to enhance the operational reliability and safety of the LNG Train 1 Fractionation Unit through comprehensive upgrade works. Altrad (formerly AGC) was contracted to deliver a range of specialised services, leveraging a multi-disciplined workforce to complete the works within a six-week outage period.
Scope:
- Installation of scaffolding to access over 2 km of piping and 14 vessels.
- Removal of insulation and subsequent blast and paint works.
- Reinstatement of insulation and cladding.
- Passive fire protection applications.
- Workpack preparation and delivery of specialised mechanical services.
Manning:
- Peak manning:379 personnel.
- Total man-hours: 356,795.
Outcomes:
- Successfully resourced over 250 personnel across day and night shifts to meet the stringent six-week outage requirement.
- Delivered all works safely within the outage timeframe, supporting uninterrupted production upon completion.
- Reinforced Altrad’s reputation for delivering large-scale, high-complexity projects under tight schedules with exceptional safety and quality standards.
