OVERVIEW

Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, Olympic Dam is one of the world’s most significant deposits of copper, gold, silver and uranium.

Olympic Dam is made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.

The underground mine is made up of more than 450 kilometres of underground roads and tunnels. Ore mined underground is hauled by an automated train system to crushing, storage and ore hoisting facilities.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

Altrad Services are contracted by BHP Billiton Olympic Dam Corporation Pty Ltd (BHP) to provide Nationally Accredited Training courses and to partner with BHP to deliver BHP Safety training to its workforce on site. The objectives of the services are to:

Provide BHP employees and all Olympic Dam contractors with skills, training and certification to deliver a safe workplace, ensure compliance to legislation, and positively contribute to BHP’s culture of care philosophy.

Develop and improve training strategies for BHP which continuously deliver safety, volume, cost, and compliance improvements for BHP.

Secure commercial and operational benefit for both BHP and Altrad Services.

 

NOTABLE BENEFITS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

April 2019 – Skate Park near BHP Olympic Dam – assisting the painting of the Skate Park at the Roxby Downs Council during a week, including the week end. The overall project has been a huge success with numerous members of the community providing positive feedback.
