Competent, skilled and well-trained people are vital to delivering safe and reliable services to our customers. In order to assure our customers of the quality of our team, we carefully verify the competency (VoC), induct, upskill and develop our people in a structured and methodical manner.
This translates into staff that are familiar with clients’ requirements and the way Altrad operates. Our Skills Centre’s primary function is to provide customised assessment and training programs aligned to specific client requirements. Altrad operates an Enterprise Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that has maintained registration as a quality endorsed training organisation since August 1997.
As a National and International RTO, our Skills Centre regulator is the Australian Skills Quality Authority. The purpose built training facility is based in metropolitan Perth.
The training centre caters for the craft of scaffolding, cryogenic and non-cryogenic insulation, painting and blasting and the nationally accredited and high risk units on Altrad’s RTO scope of registration.
Qualified trainer assessors develop and deliver nationally recognised accredited, non-accredited and customised training programs across Australia.

Wheatstone ISBL major project (2014–2019): Altrad was the only contractor at the Wheatstone project with approval to undertake our own VoC and training. Over the project we assessed and trained more than 3,500 employees out of a total of 7,000 during peak operations.
BHP Billiton Olympic Dam training (2012–current): Our Skills Centre was awarded a contract with BHP Billiton to provide all safety, induction and nationally accredited courses to BHPB employees and contractors. Altrad carries out this work with 4 onsite trainers.
eLearning courses (2014–current): Our Skills Centre has developed a range of in-house online eLearning courses to streamline some of the formal face to face training and induction programs. These courses can be undertaken online and at any time and have proven to significantly reduce the on-boarding duration.
